Inpatient & Outpatient Mental Health Care for Adults

Treatment at Austin Lakes Hospital

At Austin Lakes Hospital, we understand that psychiatric problems can affect an adult’s career, marriage and relationships with family members. We offer distinctive psychiatric services to individuals ages 18 and older with acute mental health needs. We strive to revitalize a person’s daily life through hope, compassion and care.

Located in the Pavilion Building at St. David’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas, Austin Lakes Hospital offers crisis stabilization in a confidential environment. Our programs promote crisis resolution, positive self-reflection, social skills development and personal growth. We have been treating patients from Central Texas and beyond for many years.

Some of the mental health issues we treat include depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. If you or a loved one is in need of treatment for depression or other mental health conditions, call us at 512-544-5253 for a no-cost assessment. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We’ll do whatever we can to get you the help and the referrals that you need.

Our inpatient programs and outpatient services are designed to meet the behavioral health needs of adults and seniors whether one needs inpatient depression treatment or outpatient care for anxiety. We also provide treatment options to meet the specific needs of women and military personnel. If you or a loved one is facing substance abuse or addiction issues, we can provide a referral for treatment. Contact us for more information.

Inpatient Program

Austin Lakes Hospital offers 24-hour inpatient mental health care for adults ages 18 and older and seniors ages 55 and older.

  • Our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is an inpatient environment for adults who require the highest level of care or crisis stabilization.
  • Inpatient Treatment is designed for adults who are in need of 24-hour care. This program focuses on crisis intervention, assessment and medication stabilization.
  • Our Senior Adult Program is oriented toward diagnosing, stabilizing and treating the complex issues faced by aging adults. The senior program focuses on the physical, social and mental changes that occur during the aging process. In treatment, we promote healthy aging and improvements in senior adult mental health.

Outpatient Program

Austin Lakes Hospital also provides a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which consists of comprehensive treatment for adults who do not require 24-hour care. Outpatient care and group counseling can be a great step-down option for those who’ve completed inpatient treatment or an overnight stay at another facility. Participants in outpatient programs attend therapy groups during the day or evening and return home after programming.

  • Partial Hospital Program (PHP) is an integrated approach to healing and stabilization. It can serve as a step down from inpatient care or an alternative to inpatient care.
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a less restrictive outpatient treatment program that allows clients to attend group therapy, then return to their home or work environment after programming hours.
